Coit Tower
Located on Telegraph Hill, Coit Tower is a recognizable feature on the San Francisco Skyline. The 210-foot tower was built in 1933 and was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.
The tower was dedicated to fireman who died in the 5 major fires in San Francisco is said to resemble a firehose, although not officially. When visiting the tower, you can climb to the top to see 360 degree views of San Francisco, the Bay Bridge, The Golden Gate Bridge and more. The inside of the concrete tower features murals painted by 26 different artists. It was featured in many movies including Vertigo, Dirty Harry, San Andreas and more.
The Coit Tower is open to the public during the times listed below:
10AM-6PM (April to October)
10AM-5PM (November to March)
*Closed on New Year’s Day, Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day
Entrance Fees:
Adults: $9 ($7 for Residents)
Child (4 and under): Free
Children (5 to 11): $3 ($2 for Residents)
Youth (12 to 17): $6 ($4 for Residents)
Seniors (over 62): $6 ($4 for Residents)
Group Tours:
Groups of 4 to 8 people can take a 30-40 minute guided tour. Learn the history of the tower and information about the 26 artists who painted the murals. Cost is $8 per person for the full tour and $5 per person for the second floor only tour.
